Chemical Peels

As you age there are usually a range of signs that you may start to notice. From dry, dull discoloured skin through to lines and wrinkles, it’s usually a combination rather than one particular ageing concern that is bothering you.

Chemical peels are one of the oldest forms of aesthetic skin resurfacing treatments and have been used, in one form or another, for thousands of years.

Skin resurfacing works by removing the top layer of skin by applying a product or a form of energy onto the skin. Newer, more refreshed layers of the dermis are then revealed and a whole range of ageing concerns are addressed.

Facial wrinkles are softened and reduced, a dull tone is improved, and pigmentation from sun damage, ageing or acne can be reduced.

What happens during a chemical peel?

Mr Ahmad utilises TCA (trichloroacetic acid) which is a well known peeling agent utilised widely amongst specialists. It can be used in a mild, medium or deep strength, depending on the patients’ requirements and Mr Ahmad is skilled at analysing which will be the best formulation for you.

First, your skin is cleared of oils which will prevent the chemical peel working properly and then the solution is applied for a period of time before the skin is carefully cleansed.

What’s the downtime like after a chemical peel?

Depending on the strength of the chemical peel and the length of the procedure, you will notice some reaction, from redness to a stinging sensation and, in the days following treatment, a thin crust may form. Once this sheds the new, more rejuvenated skin is revealed. Mr Ahmad will give you comprehensive instructions on how to deal with any post-procedure issues.

A chemical peel will give you an all-round effective skin rejuvenation.
