Chin and Cheek Augmentation
Balance in the facial features are a strong factor in a person’s overall attractiveness and an imbalance in the chin, cheek or nose can have a noticeable impact on the face. Mr Tariq Ahmad brings a high degree of surgical skill combined with an artistic eye for beauty to achieve a more balanced and pleasing proportion to the facial features.
By augmenting the chin and cheek with either implants or temporary dermal fillers it is possible to radically improve the contours of the face. Also if there has been a loss of volume in the cheeks due to the ageing process then increased volume in the cheeks can provide a more youthful rejuvenated effect.
During the consultation, Mr Ahmad will take a full medical history and then discuss your options and any associated risks and side effects. If your expectations are realistic then a chin or cheek profile improvement can provide maximum results with relatively minimal downtime.
What to expect during a chin & cheek augmentation
Temporary dermal fillers are a very popular aesthetic treatment, with little downtime and side effects. The volumising filler is injected carefully into the cheeks and chin area where needed to create a fuller, more rounded contour. Temporary fillers last approximately 12 months in these areas before you’ll need a repeat treatment.
If you’re looking for a more permanent solution to chin augmentation and there are no problems with the structure of your jaw or teeth formation, then implants inserted into the chin to either make it wider, longer or more prominent can be a very effective option.
Mr Ahmad will make an incision either through the mouth or just under the chin and a pocket is made for the implant. The implant is then inserted before the incision is closed.
Depending on the effect you wish to achieve, implants can be placed in the outer higher part or the lower and mid part of the cheek bone. The implant is inserted through an incision made either in the mouth or just under the lash line of the eye. In both cases, scarring should be minimal.
A chin or cheek augmentation can either be performed under local or general anaesthetic, depending on the extent of the procedure and the patient’s own requirements.
What is the recovery like after a chin or cheek augmentation?
Temporary dermal fillers have few potential complications and side effects. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are very well tolerated by the body but if you don’t like the results then it is possible to disperse the dermal filler with a product called hyaluronidase.
With implant surgery, there is a wider range of potential side effects and risks and Mr Ahmad will explain these thoroughly at the consultation stage. There is a risk of infection, numbness and all implants carry a risk of capsular contracture, whereby a hard shell forms around the implant, but the risk of this is minimal.
